If you only buy one video on lighting this year it probably should be Lumen. This is one of the best lighting videos currently available.

Love the production value! Just like your previous videos, Lumen makes me want to go out and shoot! Lots of energy, contrary to some of the other tutorials out there.

FAQs

What devices can I watch the video on?

Whilst the video is exclusively licenced to you, you may have a copy of this video on multiple devices – ie. tablet, phone, and computer. I recommend initially downloading the video files onto a desktop or laptop computer, un zipping them, then syncing the files to mobile devices.

How can I watch it on my iphone or ipad?

Once you have the unzipped files on your computer, synchronise the files to your mobile/tablet in the usual way.

How many download files are there and how big are they?

Lumen has been split into 4 smaller files to reduce download times and make it a little easier for the majority of our customers. Each file is approximately 1.5gb.

Please download one file at a time to minimise download issues.

What flash equipment is used in the production?

Damien exclusively uses Godox branded flashes in this latest production including the Godox AD200 pocket flash, AD600BM plus various light modifiers and accessories. The imagery created in the production can easily be produced using many other brands of flash equipment with similar specifications and power output.

If you’re looking to up your game in flash photography then this is the production for you. If you’re looking specifically for speedlight photography training then we’d recommend buying Illumination 2.

About the presenter and photographer

Damien Lovegrove, That’s me. I am an eminent portrait photographer and Fujifilm brand ambassador. I have been making professional photographs since 1984. In my early years, I was a BBC TV cameraman before training as a lighting director. I left the BBC in 1998 to pursue a career as a commercial photographer and then went on to become a world-renowned wedding photographer. I am now an educator, adventurer, writer, and presenter. I’m inspired by beauty and as I have matured as a photographer I’ve learned to see beauty in just about everyone and everywhere. It’s not what I look at that matters, it is what I see. Being a good portrait photographer requires key traits like having integrity, fun, respectfulness, and a personable character. It wasn’t until I was in my early 30s that I began to gain that all-important confidence needed to hone these skills, and I shot my first portrait in 1996 at the age of 32. Some of the leading photographers I met early in my career had confidence and craft skills in bucket loads, but somehow they lost the desire or focus to really push themselves to greatness, and they fell by the wayside. It takes continual practice and improvement to get the most from photography and there are many obstacles along the way to overcome.
