Downloaded this studio lighting video a couple of weeks ago and I love it! Broken down into bite size videos of each shoot Damien takes the time to thoroughly explain techniques used and why he uses them. He literally shows what light and shadow he is looking for and where he wants it. His enthusiasm and love for photography also shines through and that makes the videos even better. This is a great resource and one I know I will be returning to again and again.

I think you are a wonderful photographer but you are also an extremely good teacher. There are many great photographers but far fewer great teachers. About the presenter and photographer

Damien Lovegrove, That’s me. I am an eminent portrait photographer and Fujifilm brand ambassador. I have been making professional photographs since 1984. In my early years, I was a BBC TV cameraman before training as a lighting director. I left the BBC in 1998 to pursue a career as a commercial photographer and then went on to become a world-renowned wedding photographer. I am now an educator, adventurer, writer, and presenter. I’m inspired by beauty and as I have matured as a photographer I’ve learned to see beauty in just about everyone and everywhere. It’s not what I look at that matters, it is what I see. Being a good portrait photographer requires key traits like having integrity, fun, respectfulness, and a personable character. It wasn’t until I was in my early 30s that I began to gain that all-important confidence needed to hone these skills, and I shot my first portrait in 1996 at the age of 32. Some of the leading photographers I met early in my career had confidence and craft skills in bucket loads, but somehow they lost the desire or focus to really push themselves to greatness, and they fell by the wayside. It takes continual practice and improvement to get the most from photography and there are many obstacles along the way to overcome.
