I always look forward to the monthly Zoom sessions with Damien - They are extremely informative, and Damien, as always, is remarkably generous with his knowledge - His responses to questions are detailed and clear, and he genuinely goes the extra mile to make sure everything is fully understood.

The Circle is designed to be welcoming at any stage. But it's particularly valuable if any of these sound familiar:
Quietly listening is just as welcome as asking questions. Many members attend every session without ever submitting a question — and find it every bit as valuable.
The Photographers' Circle is a monthly live Zoom with Damien Lovegrove. It's not a course. There's no curriculum to follow, no deadlines, and no homework. It's an ongoing conversation, for photographers who want to keep learning without pressure, and who value a regular, reliable connection with someone who knows what they're talking about.
Each session runs for one hour. It begins with questions submitted by members in advance and Damien answers them in depth, not in passing. The second half is guided by a theme from Damien's back catalogue: real images, honest explanations of the decisions behind them, and the kind of insight that only comes from 40 years of professional work.
You can attend live, watch the replay, or both. You can ask questions every month or simply listen. You can submit images for critique or attend just to absorb. There is no wrong way to be a member.
I consider myself a competent photographer, but I’m always hungry to learn more. Damien’s Zooms are amazing - packed with practical guidance that has made me more confident and my photography far more structured and informed.
Damien is never judgmental, just really supportive - and his content is incredibly inspiring.
No matter your level, if you want to improve your skills or take your photography to the next level, the monthly ‘TPC’ (The Photographers’ Circle) Zooms are definitely worth attending!
What I find most valuable in Damien’s teaching goes far beyond lighting. He addresses the fear and self-doubt we all face during shoots, and shows how to navigate those moments with confidence.
He teaches how to see beyond the obvious in a location, to let creativity take over and create images that inexperienced photographers simply don’t see yet.
The discussions around mood, posing, pricing, and the balance between paid and creative work are incredibly helpful. Money isn’t the motivation, but without clear guidance, a photography business won’t survive.
These lessons take time to absorb and make your own, and that’s exactly why being part of this ongoing community matters.
I've been teaching photography for a long time, workshops, courses, videos and one-to-ones. And the thing I've noticed, consistently, is that the most valuable moments rarely happen in structured teaching. They happen in the conversation afterwards. Someone asks a question that unlocks something for the whole group. An image gets discussed and suddenly three people see their own work differently.
The Photographers' Circle exists because I wanted to create a space where that conversation can happen every month, reliably, without the expense and logistics of a workshop. A place where photographers can bring the questions they're actually sitting with, not the questions a course curriculum has decided they should have.
I lead every session with the same goal I bring to all my teaching: to encourage, inspire, educate, and entertain. I've been making portraits professionally for over 40 years, and I still find this the most rewarding part of what I do.
In 2013 I received the Master Craftsman qualification from the Guild of Photographers in the UK. I bring that standard of care and craft to every session.
No questions. No hassle. No hard feelings. Join, attend a session or two, and if you feel it's not the right fit for you, email me within 30 days and I'll refund you in full. I want you here because it's working for you — not for any other reason.
Every session is recorded and the full replay is available in your dashboard, usually within 24 hours. You can watch at your own pace, pause, and revisit any part. Many members watch replays consistently and find they lose nothing by not attending live. You can also submit questions in advance regardless of whether you plan to attend. Your question will be answered even if you're watching the replay later.
